About
Denise Schmidt
I was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in Auckland in March 2010 and have been working with medium-sized law firms ever since, specializing in Private Client and General Practice. My areas of expertise include Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Trusts (both family trusts and charitable trusts), Probate and Estate Administration, Occupation Rights Agreements and Residential Property.
I obtained a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from the University of London in 1995, followed by the Legal Practice Diploma with the New Zealand Council of Legal Education and the Postgraduate Diploma in Law at the College of Law, Auckland and admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in March 2010.
While studying law in New Zealand, I gained valuable experience as a Trust Manager at a medium-sized Auckland CBD law firm from 2003 to 2007. Since being admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor I have worked as a solicitor in the general practice area of law in law firms across Auckland. I was a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) for 10 years. With over twenty years of experience in Trusts, I have seen the development of trust law over the years transitioning to the Trusts Act 2019 and I am exceptionally skilled in handling trust-related inquiries and complex estate planning structures.
I am involved in local charities developing family and youth services in the local community and at weekends you will find me out and about at local events handing out Easter eggs or welcoming guests to a mid-winter Christmas dinner. I enjoy giving back to the community and also offer legal services to these charities.
I am committed to my clients' goals and focused on achieving their objectives. I enjoy guiding clients through the process, ensuring they understand the steps being taken to protect their future asset planning.

“Visiting a lawyer’s office can be somewhat intimidating, particularly for elderly clients. My aim is to simplify the process as much as possible, implementing practical and sensible solutions to fulfill the client’s objectives.”
